Violeta Barrientos (Lima, 1963) studied Law, Political Sociology and Literature at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru, Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos (San Marcos) and University Paris 8. He received his Ph.D. with a dissertation on body image and contemporary Peruvian poetry. He lived in Paris between 1992 and 1999, where he devoted himself to defending human rights in Latin America. He has published poems Elixir (Lima, 1991), The unmentionable body of desire (Lima, 1992) After the back door (Lima, 1994), The Garden of Earthly Delights (Paris, 1995, Lima, 2006), The Book of snake (Lima, 2000), Tragic / Comic (Lima, 2003). In addition to poetry, has dabbled in other genres and photography. In 2005, he participated in the International Biennial of Val-de-Marne (France). In 2007, this biennial translated into French and published his book completely Tragic / Comic (Editions Le Bleu du Ciel). He has written articles in the field of politics and human rights criticism literature, the "gender and sexuality, and has been publisher of print and electronic publications. He is currently co-editor of the editorial in the Argentinian-Peruvian border, working on issues related to sexuality and human rights internationally, and teaches in San Marcos.
